Early Christmas present for De Warenne

Dickens' A Christmas Carol brought to life in special one-off performance.

Staff and students gathered in the assembly hall today to enjoy a performance of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol acted by members of the Manacto Company from Manchester.

The three professional actors (Sarah Coyne; Stewart Crank; Sean Madden) took on the roles of over twelve characters and provided Year 10 and Year 11 students with an invaluable insight into the story and personalities that populate this classic novel.

The performance finished with a Question and Answer session where the actors fielded some excellent and insightful questions from the students.

Mr Webb said "Knowing the story of the novel is the first step in securing an excellent grade in their English literature GCSE and I'm sure many of our students now find the plot and characters more accessible. Our students made the actors very welcome, behaved impeccably throughout and were a credit to themselves and the academy."
