Yet again students, parents and staff were celebrating record GCSE results at De Warenne, with the year group having made more progress than any other year group in the history of the academy.

The most able pupils did extremely well, picking up prestigious grade 9s across a range of subjects including maths, English, science, history and photography. Overall 62% of students gained a grade 4 in Maths and English and 36% achieved a grade 5 or above, exceeding national expectations for pupils of a similar ability.

Principal Anna Rooney said “I am absolutely delighted with these results which reflect the hard work put in by both students and staff.  They are an indication of the strong teaching and individual support we provide for our students. This is a significant improvement on last year’s results, when the academy was already the highest performing local school and I am delighted that we are able to celebrate our year on year improvement. Congratulations to all our students!”

Paul Tarn, Chief Executive Officer of Delta Academies Trust said: “The work of the Principal, Anna Rooney, her team and the Academy Advisory Body is transforming outcomes and life chances for the children of Conisbrough and the surrounding area. I am delighted by the continued improvement, year upon year.”
