Volcano competition heats up

2nd December 2013

Mr Pughsley and Mrs Sneddon have been inundated by entries for the Year 8 volcano competition. Students have been studying the topic of tectonics in geography lessons and have produced some amazing volcano projects. Many students have also worked closely with Mrs Sneddon the school librarian and this has undoubtedly had a huge impact on the quality of the entries this year. Competition has been fierce and the entries have far surpassed those in previous years. The competition culminated in a mass eruption of volcanoes with the winning group consisting of Callum Birch, Brogan Jones and Cameron Sambrook. They produced an excellent volcano that included LED lighting, chemical reactions and an informative brochure. Mr Pughsley said 'this has set the bar high for next year, the current year seven group have a big challenge on their hands'
