De Warenne Bids Students 'Bon Voyage!'

26th April 2013

This Easter 36 students set off to Paris. Highlights from the week included venturing deep into the city's underground catacombs to see the final resting place of over 6 million Parisians and taking in the many splendid sights of Paris with a river cruise along the Seine. Most of the group were then courageous enough to go right to the top of the Eiffel Tower, once the tallest building in the world.

Students were also able to show off their French language skills in a team challenge at Brie market. Equipped with only their knowledge and 10 euros, students had one hour to buy the most exciting lunch items they could find within budget. From strawberries dipped in chocolate to brightly-coloured macaroons and plush salads, the food wowed the staff and judges.

On the last day students visited the place where dreams come true… Disneyland Paris! Teachers and students alike braved the biggest rides: Space Mountain, Indiana Jones and of course, the Teacups! The day ended as, with mouse ears on, the group enjoyed the Disney parade.

Following an informative and delicious trip to an artisan chocolate maker, the group returned home at the end of a very varied and exciting trip. Students were a credit to the academy and their enthusiasm was unrivalled. Would we do it all again? OUI!
