Kingswood Trip

11th December 2013

In November, 21 Year 7 students set off to the Kingswood Outdoor Activity Centre in Denaby Main. For some this was their first night away from home and so they were both excited and nervous. The first activity was bushcraft where students learnt how to make fire with a flint and stone. This was followed by the 'night line' where everyone was blindfolded and put in teams before completing a very muddy and tricky obstacle course in the pitch black. The students worked effectively as a team and communicated well. A hot tea followed and sleep came quickly after that!

On day two there were some big challenges to complete and some fears to overcome. The 'high ropes course' is an obstacle course set high up in the air with a seasaw to jump onto right at the top. Even from the bottom it looked scary! Our students did brilliantly and all got further than they expected to, some even reaching the top. At the end of the trip confidence was high and students were justifiably proud of all that they had achieved.
